People who struggle with learning differences, such as dyslexia and dysgraphia, may have lost a love for learning and self-confidence. With proper guidance, one can succeed, regain a love for learning, develop self-confidence, and experience success!
Natalie Hobock, the founder of Houston Dyslexia LLC, is a CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist) and Reading Therapist. These credentials provide the proper training to deliver valid, expert-level dyslexia and dysgraphia therapy. She offers comprehensive, science-based dyslexia and dysgraphia therapy to remediate dyslexia and ensure struggling readers and writers become successful.
Dyslexia and dysgraphia therapy are very different from “dyslexia tutoring.” Natalie is fully Neuhaus-trained in Structured Literacy/Orton-Gillingham, which meets the standards of the International Dyslexia Association and the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council. Natalie also offers Intensive Structured Literacy Tutoring when appropriate, which is different from traditional tutoring.
Structured Literacy/Orton-Gillingham-based instruction is scientifically proven to be most effective for all readers; it is paramount that individuals with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and struggling readers and writers receive this instruction. It is important to understand the differences between dyslexia therapy and dyslexia tutoring.
Natalie has almost 25 years of experience inside and outside the classroom, and she offers the gold standard of effective instruction for students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia: the Orton-Gillingham Approach.
The Orton-Gillingham Approach falls under a Structured Literacy approach, which is multisensory, explicit, systematic, and cumulative. This approach breaks down language into manageable patterns and structures in a systematic manner. Literacy is taught in a way that is more accessible to individuals with dyslexia and struggling readers.
She applies a diagnostic-prescriptive approach, which allows her to personalize instruction to target students’ areas of needed support and enhance their strengths. She has Orton-Gillingham-based training from Neuhaus Education Center, is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), a Reading Therapist, and a certified teacher in Texas, holding certifications in Special Education, General Education, and ESL.
